Featured Artist: The Burn & Cry

md

The Burn & Cry bases itself on the Alchemical Theory of the Union of Opposites. In fact, the name Burn & Cry
is a verb play on a pair of opposites, Fire and Water.

Born in the crucible of NYC, the Burn & Cry’s basic elements began with musical chemistry. Mike Marco had to
start a metal band. Quickly spawning a handful of deep groove oriented songs with  the rhythm section of Eric Eckelman and Kevin Mackall, who were already tightly conjoined as a working drum and bass unit, they completed
the quaternity with the addition of guitar virtuoso Pancho Garza.

Thus evolved the Burn & Cry. The four members each embody distinct ingredients of the Burn & Cry elixir. Metal,
Punk, Hard Rock, Thrash, Jazz, Reggae and Hip Hop spanning a couple of decades of influence and all finding confluence in the Burn & Cry music.

The band has recently finished working with record producer Britt Myers from Great City Productions in NYC.
Britt produced, engineered & mixed The Burn & Cry’s self titled debut album. He also worked with Suzanne Vega
on her forth coming album “Beauty and Crime”. Britt did the preproduction, arranging & engineering for that record.

- The Burn & Cry is currently in the final stages of editing of their first video, “Faith Molester.”

- The Burn & Cry’s music is also currently being heard on MTV2’s Rock Block, Headbangers Ball, Sirius Octane, Talking Metal, Metal Messiah Radio, Metalheadradio.com and many more.
The lead singer Lead Luminous has been the voice of MTV2’s Headbanger’s Ball for the past 5 years.

Welcome to the world of E Rick Rinaldi.

You’ve entered a world of original sound, style, and artistic passion rarely experienced elsewhere. Rick is a master at capturing the imagination with music composition born of the soul. Self-taught, Rick commands the piano, keyboards, synths, soft strings, guitar, and percussion instruments, and then he brings the heart and soul of real life into every note he writes and plays.

Rick uniquely blends instruments in a manner that allows even a screaming rock guitar to share the same stage with a Cello and Violin; vocal usage is unrivaled. His music is captivating, rhythm tic, clean, and moving. Each and every piece Rick composes is deeply rooted, and passionately performed.

Rick began tinkering with the piano at the age of six, and in the coming years he would watch his sisters take lessons, and then when no one was around he would practice the lessons left by his sisters' music teacher, and he has been playing ever since. During those same years he began playing the guitar.

In his late 30's Rick met his soul mate, Lee Darby, who he would later marry. Lee took a deep interest in his music, and convinced him that it was too good to just sit on a shelf. After years of sporadic practice and basic composing, now newly inspired by Lee Darby, Rick again began to take his music seriously.

Realizing that Rick was somewhat restricted by the piano only, Lee introduced Rick to a XP-80, and within hours his baby grand piano and the XP-80 came together as one; Rick was now able to expand the potential of his music without the need for other musicians. Rick prefers to compose alone, and without accompaniment, though he is recently expressing interest in co-writing.

A purist for many years believing in the natural tone of a piano, Rick realized the amazing flexibility of sound offered by the digital keyboard age, and he has now integrated a number of keyboards with the piano and guitar.

Rick has been inspired by an handful of masters over the years, including Victor Borga, Alan Parsons, Chip Davis, Jeff Lynn, Enya, Janis Ian, Maria Callis, BB King, Louie Armstrong, and Nelson Riddle.

Amanda Gracie is based on the true story of a young lady soldier returning from Iraq after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a roadside bomb incident. Once home, she could not remember her two year old daughter.

Here’s one musician that has worn a path on the road less traveled. Jack Minor, having grown up on a Texas cattle ranch, was scouted to play outfield for the Yankees, got a degree in Advertising and then took off to New York to be a stage actor. His leading man good looks, coupled with an innate gift for acting, landed him roles, but he was sidelined with illness that had him down for the count. He’s hard to kill, though. Jack headed west after got well, landed a plum role in a Sci Fi movie, and then figured out that what he really was, was a storyteller. Having stockpiled enough original songs in his brain to fill a grain silo, Jack was introduced to veteran record engineer/producer, Michael Vail Blum, and that lead to his solo release, “MINOR CONFESSIONS”. A jambalaya of rockabilly, country blues and pure cowboy sensibilities, “Minor Confessions” has an old school feel. Jack appears to be channeling Johnny Cash with a touch of Jerry Lee Lewis, and the sincerity of a young Elvis Presley. The confessions range from lovin’ the ladies, to the anguish of loneliness, to the CD’s bottom line…survival. This is one Texas son who knows the meaning of gratitude. You could mistake him for a new-ager, ‘cept for that tin of chaw in his boot. Jack was blessed to have some awesome players on “Minor Confessions including: Dean Pleasant- Lead, Rhythm, Bass Guitar (Suicidal Tendencies/Jessica Simpson); Teddy Andreadis- Harp, Keys (Guns n Roses/Carol King); Gary Mallaber - Drums/Percussion (Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, Beach Boys). “Minor Confessions” was Engineered and Recorded By Michael Vail Blum, Titan Records, Studio City, CA. -Written by Beth Wernick Imaginary Friends Music Partners 310-281-7812

Featured Artist: Joe Colledge

jc

In an area with more cover bands per square foot than perhaps anywhere else in America, Morristown, New Jersey's Joe Colledge is rapidly becoming one of the most popular original artists in the Northern New Jersey music scene. The secret to his success is a high octane-show and a winning set list, which features inspiring original material penned by the talented singer/songwriter.

A native of Philadelphia, Colledge began his musical career at a young age, studying guitar and developing his songwriting skills as a teenager. After fronting many bands and experimenting with different genres of music over the years, it was the events of September 11th that inspired him to put pen to paper in an attempt to express the tangle of emotions that resulted from having witnessed the horrific scene that day. Colledge began to compile a stack of songs and returned to performing a regular schedule of solo acoustic gigs. He eventually recorded a demo album of original material called "Convent Station", where he tapped into his personal experiences with life, love, loss, and hope. The album was released on Swamp Dog Records in 2005 and is currently available via most online distributors.

In early 2007, Joe Colledge cemented his new band lineup which consists of Michigan native Jimmy Mac on lead guitar, Elton John-influenced keyboardist Jon Wohlgemuth, Dublin Ireland’s own Angus Miller on bass, and super-tight drummer Jeff Pizzi. In June of 2007, Colledge released his first true and long-awaited LP entitled Table For One with indie label OMS Records and is available on Amazon, CD Baby, and iTunes. With a rootsy sound reminiscent of Tom Petty, Counting Crows, and Gin Blossoms, the album features catchy songs like "Lost Again", "Deep Into You", and title track "Table For One", which are already drawing a great response from his devoted fans. In support of the album, Joe has been busy playing the New York Metro area’s most revered venues, including The Bitter End, Maxwell’s, and The Saint.

Recently named New Jersey's "Best Male Vocalist" by Daily Record readers, Joe Colledge has been garnering much attention in the form of considerable FM, Satellite, and Podcast airplay. With a series of recent publishing deals, his songs are in high demand as they are being shopped to such networks as Fox and Warner Brothers for Film & TV placement.

Indeed, as Colledge pleases crowds with his hooky songs and a few covers of rock mainstays, his original sound and direction continue to develop. Says Colledge, "I just want to write and produce great music that will touch as many people as possible. I'll just keep writing and playing and see how far I can take things. And with the addition of my current bandmates, I’ve never had more fun in my life playing with such talented and cool guys."

Joe Colledge is proud to carry on the Garden State's great tradition of rock 'n' roll, and who knows – his name might someday appear right alongside Springsteen and Bon Jovi in the Jersey rock 'n' roll hall of fame.

Mimi is a melody brainiac, with new material ready as soon as Teft starts a beat or a bass line. They often challenge themselves to do a one-hour song where they write, record and mix a song in one hour. "Delicous" happened that way. It's had thousands of plays on Teft's blog and myspace, and has been on CSI: New York and the Early Show on CBS.  It is part of their new album, being released in December 07.  Look for it on itunes in January 08.  The album has other breakout singles, including "Fairy Tale" which won the Toronto, Canada international Dance Song of the Year.  Mimi & Teft also won the Dance Group of the Year.  The album title song, "Shake Your Fantasy" is also out as their first video shot on the exclusive Red One ultra definition camera.  They have songs on TV and radio stations around the US, Canada, Europe and Pacific Rim.  Their debut EP "Look into the Mirror" hit #1 on Pop, Electronic and Club in the same month last year, and has remained on the top 10 at Purevolume.com club and house music for all of 07.

Greg Alan” grew up in Cullman, Alabama raised on a mix of Classic Country and Southern Rock, Gospel. As a kid he listened to anything and everything he could get his hands on, sitting up late at night listening to Hank Williams Jr, Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, Vince Gill, and of course… Alabama. “Greg Alan” picked up a guitar and started playing the honky tonks and bars around his hometown. He quickly realized this was the life for him. He learned the magic that you create with a guitar and a good song. Bringing the audience on a journey and helping them to see the song through your eyes. “Greg Alan’s” journey finally brought him to Nashville where he recorded his debut album. “Greg Alan”, Nelson Larkin “Snake Ron Reynolds”, “Flash Gordon”, “Mary Gordon” and, “Lisa Gordon Morris” put together and album that rocks as much as it honky tonks.

When it came time to get the band together, “Greg Alan” pulled together some of the best musicians out there. “The Hitchhikers” (as they are affectionately called) are made up of Nashville studio players, and touring pros who have been a part of other hit groups like Bering Strait, Sixpence None the Richer. With several US and World Tours between the guys and tons of studio work, they provide “Greg Alan” with the killer live show that takes the songs over the top and brings the audience into a world created with music and lyrics. With a blockbuster debut album and a energy fueled live show, “Greg Alan” is poised to take the world by storm, one radio station, one honky.

Featured Artist: Sara Wendt

sw

A former lead singer of the East Village cult band, Homer Erotic and the founder of her own band, Went, Sara Wendt's other-worldly lyrics and bell-like voice has been charming the Lower East Side of Manhattan audiences for several years now. City Canyons Records recognized the haunting brilliance of her songwriting, and signed her to the Manhattan based label. Now, as she moves out under her own name, her songs get softer but more intensely emotional.

The songs from Sara's first record, Parachute, have been described as "music for your dreams" (Folkways) and "like diving into a tropical sea-warm, bright and filled with strange, cool twists" (Maggie Dubris).

With the release of her long-awaited full second album, Weightless with Love, Sara gives us the title song "Weightless with Love" and it makes us hop and sing along a la Peppermint Patty with it's 70s style la-las and then she takes us to the life of a sad New Mexico drifter who doesn't like the radio in "Pretty Dark Knight" while she's off in those other worlds in "I'll Be Waiting" posing as a spiritual guide leading us along sunnier, soothing paths.

Sara attributes much of the gorgeous textures and arrangements on Weightless with Love to her guitarist and fellow writer, Ann Klein and also to Tim Hatfield, the record's co-producer and engineer (Cowboy Technical Services). "Ann and Tim have completely read my mind on this one. I asked for Emmy Lou Harris' Wrecking Ball with a sitar and they delivered it with a bit or a lot of me in there."

Listen to Weightless with Love. This record is beautifully personal. I felt Sara was singing just to me, leading me to a better place.

Featured Artist: Jacki B

jb

City Canyons Records artist, Jacki B. lives in the country. Not some farm skirting a red dirt country road, nor a small town nestled along a long ribbon of two-lane blacktop, nor a ranch baking under a southern sun. Nor does Jacki hail from Memphis or Nashville. Yet she calls all those places home, because, as everybody knows, home is where the heart is.

So Jersey girl Jacki B sings country--alt country with a little western flair and a mulligan's stew of other influences. Country with a difference. That difference is reflected in her haunting City Canyons debut single, "Burning Star (The Astronaut)". While other country singers have heralded the adventures and misadventures of their cowboys, their working men and their desperados both romantically, in many a whiskey and tear-soaked ballad, and dramatically, in songs like "El Paso" and "Pancho and Lefty," Jacki sings of another kind of cowboy, a dying astronaut sending a last love song spriraling down from the heavens to his earth angel. Jacki's voice, the soaring lap steel guitar and the vibrant earthy mandolin of "Burning Star" bring vividly alive a tale of the last True West and its perishing but intrepid hero, a hero more truly romantic than any juke-box Romeo and braver and more tragic than any man that ever strapped a big-iron on his hip.

Peter is currently working on compositions for his third solo album, also to be released under the City Canyons imprint - though no release schedule has yet been set.

Featured Artist: Anemo

a

ANEMO began life in September 2002 when Kingsley Sage was auditioning singers for a song writing and recording project. The results had been universally disappointing (to put it mildly), until at the 11th hour a former actress and talented vocalist called Hazelle Woodhurst entered the picture. The two immediately got on well, with their shared love of different types of music and, of course, a good English cup of tea. The two set to work on penning a number of songs that would later become the basis of the ANEMO's first album. They decided that the project needed a rock edge, and to that end guitarist Matt Palmer was added to the mix.

After countless evenings at the band's basement studio in Brighton, the three had amassed an impressive collection of pop-meets-rock-meets-electronica tracks. At this point, the group took on the name ANEMO a word that means "changing forms", to reflect the blend of styles and influences that was brought to the music. The strong vocal melodies and distinctive style caught the attention of Trebor Lloyd, CEO of New York-based upcoming independent record label, City Canyons. In summer 2005 ANEMO signed a 3 album record contract and began to record the final tracks for their first album.

The trio's debut album "Slowburn" was met with critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic - gaining rave reviews and returning top 10 positions on U.S. college radio. The band were championed by BBC 6 music as "one to watch" on the Bruce Dickinson (of Iron Maiden fame) Rock Show. The ANEMO live band has toured throughout the U.K. and were recognised for their energetic live perfomances by winning the CRS "Best Live Band 2006" award.
The band are currently working on the second studio album, which has a sound more focused towards the aggression and energy of the live band than it's predecessor. ANEMO's new single "Pray" was released on 15 October 2007 and has been receiving rave reviews.

Since 1999, the Velmas - bassist Todd Figaro Minnick, guitarist Mike Harvey Grosshandler and drummer Michael Bruce Bruce - have been entertaining upstate New York. The band has become a favorite around Albany and Syracuse, NY, and is gaining popularity throughout the Northeastern U.S.

In 2002, the Velmas released their debut album, Another Day At School. Since its release, the album has received rave reviews and has opened doors of opportunity for the band. This was followed by Recess (2004), a double EP featuring new and unreleased studio tracks, as well as several live tracks. The Velmas' second studio album, Station, will be released internationally on City Canyons Records in 2006.

The Velmas are three singers and songwriters with very different musical backgrounds, coming together to create powerful rock music. Their sound is influenced by old-school to modern rock, punk, reggae, and even country and classical. In concert, the Velmas back their music with a playful, high-energy live show, which is the reason why Albany-area Velmites have voted them the Capital Regions "Best Alternative Band" (Metroland, 2006).

Featured Artist: The Alrights

tal2

Diverse. To say the Minnesota trio The Alrights is diverse in their sound, might perhaps be like saying Mark Twain was good at writing. Whether you listen to the recordings or see the band live you will inevitably hear true diversity. One song is Rock, another is soul influenced. One sounds like a Spiritual, another Punk. One may be smooth and exact with a lot of vocal harmonies and thoughtful arrangements, the next might be raw, almost Garage.

Its not a gimmick. Its just what lead vocalist and guitarist/ivory tickler Toby Churchill feels like doing. His lyrics for the bands tunes are no less diverse. Some are about love or carnality and some are about death and non-existence, though pretension is kept at bay with some silly numbers like a birthday song for the universe and hard core fans of the group are well aware of whom Churchill considers to be the greatest running back of all-time.

Danny Cosgrove plays a mean bass and sings a sweet harmony. Thankfully, he can do both at the same time allowing this three piece to often sound like four. Drummer Chad Chavo Amborn knows when to hold back, which is a lot given the simplicity of many of the arrangements, but has the chops to bring down the house when its called for.

The band formed in the summer of 2003 although, its members have known each other and played together for much longer. In the fall of 2005, after extensive gigging, the band was signed to a record deal by NYC City Canyons Records. The Alrights have since begun to tour and are in the process of building a national audience.

...and here's the rest: I never expected to be consumed by music. I thought I'd end up being normal and practical. Really. I went to school for Geology. What can I say? I still like rocks.

The Amazing Anne Husick and I also work on a separate acoustic project together. We generally wreak havoc wherever we can. Recently, we were featured in the Downtown Express for our residency at The Gatehouse. We've also been invited to play at the GoGirls Elite Showcase 2005, Songwriter's Hall of Fame New Writer's Showcase 2004, and Earth Day NY 2004.

What did I forget? Oh. When I perform, I exclusively drink Jameson...and I can sing all 50 states in alphabetical order.

John Ondrasik Biography
Five For Fighting singer/songwriter

It requires agility to write deeply personal songs that include social messages and invoke the human spirit. John Ondrasik from the band Five For Fighting has consistently accomplished this with his past three albums. Ondrasik first came on the scene in 2001 with his Grammy-nominated song "Superman (It’s Not Easy),” from the Platinum certified America Town (Aware/Columbia) CD. Already climbing the charts prior to 9/11, "Superman" went on to have a life of his own, becoming a song of healing for the nation. John joined superstars Paul McCartney, Elton John, Billy Joel and others for the now legendary post 9/11 fund raiser The Concert For New York, which paid tribute to all the firefighters, policeman and paramedics affected by the events of September 11th. In 2004, John recorded the now platinum album, The Battle For Everything, which yielded the massive hit, "100 Years”.

With the new album, Two Lights, featuring “World” and “The Riddle,” John continues to craft songs with much of the material drawn from his personal experiences in regards to love, war, culture, family, humanity and mortality. The recently-released new single “World” is a call-to-action song that proposes the question “What kind of world do you want?” and “be careful what you wish for, history starts now.”

In the spirit of the song, Ondrasik recently launched a charity-driven web site, whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com, which launched February 26 and is the first music video community site that will help raise money for charitable organizations. Ondrasik came up with the concept, after receiving hundreds of unsolicited homemade videos for his hit singles “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” and “100 Years.” Visitors to the site can make a charitable donation by posting a homemade video for the song or by watching videos made and uploaded by others. The charities were personally chosen by Ondrasik and includes: Save The Children, Fisher House Foundation, Autism Speaks, New York Police & Fire Widows & Children’s Benefit Fund, VH1 Save The Music Foundation and the Breast Cancer 3-Day.

“People always seem to take these songs and make them their own, and I thought, well, how can we take that to the next level and do a little good along the way? With today’s technology, everybody is a filmmaker and hopefully it will take off and raise a lot of money for these good causes.” Ondrasik said. Ondrasik also donated the licensing rights to “World” for the new Breast Cancer 3-Day national television and radio advertising campaign that is airing through March.

Ondrasik, under the auspices of the USO, recently performed for service members on a USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour of Guantanamo Bay and other bases in Cuba. This was the first USO/AFE tour for Ondrasik, who in addition to performing, met with numerous service members and their families. "I am struck by the sacrifices the troops and their families make for our way of life and I felt was important to show my support." Ondrasik said.

In addition to his passion for music, Ondrasik is an avid sports and politics enthusiast. He is currently writing a monthly hockey column for SI.com (Sports Illustrated's web site), and he is a frequent contributor to Hotsoup.com, a political web site dedicated to bringing together public figures from the worlds of politics, business, religion, and popular culture with influencers who drive opinion at the grassroots and community levels.

Blog Critics – Jon Sobel
DeHaan, is a nineties-style punk-pop dynamo. Her new 3-song EP is drawing comparisons to Belly and U2, which is fair enough, but her
live set is rawer and more punked out. This dualism may simply be in the nature of the pretty, driven, biker-haired Indianan-turned-New
Yorker, or it may be smartly planned - or both. In any case, it makes her recorded music potentially radio-friendly in more than one circuit
- grown up Gen-Xers, college rock, maybe even the Avril LaTween set. A combination of talent, personal intensity and looks might soon turn
Kirsten DeHaan into a major indie player...

Kirsten DeHaan has stormed onto the music scene by releasing her debut album Conform under her own label SirLady Records in 2004. Being
compared to U2 & Nirvana with a touch of Belly, Kirsten personally pushed her music to MTV, and over 150 radio stations in the first few
months of its release. In addition to releasing her work, DeHaan has created a series of music launches, entitled the New York Indie Rock
Launch into New York City. The event is in honor of celebrating the city's influential urban rock scene while featuring herself alongside
some of New York's top independent rock artists and promoters.

Having shown vast results within the music community and among her fans, Kirsten was one of three independent artists chosen to be part
of the leader in digital media distribution Intent Media Works. Her latest work 'Under The Richter Scale' is now featured along several
major labels artists including; Garth Brooks, Heart, and Willie Nelson. In addition, Kirsten's songwriting proves to be a 'hit' time
and again, scoring her latest single 'Russian Roulette'   next to Outkast's 'Hey Ya' and James Blunt's 'Beautiful' for same hit quality
by Platinum Blue Inc.

Featured Artist: The Shattuck Brothers

The Shattuck Brothers are one of the hottest new acts to hit the modern country scene in years.  With a sound as big and diverse as their home state, there is no other way to describe it but “California Country.”

“We wanted to create a sound that is reminiscent of one of the greatest bands of all time – the Eagles” states Randy Shattuck, song-writer and producer.  “We also wanted something that would really foreground Ricky Lee’s vocal abilities.”

Ricky Lee Shattuck, lead vocalist, shows a range of emotion and vocal stylings on the album that places him at the front of the pack of emerging artists.  The blend of the brothers’ voices in rich harmonies is a strong suit of the album.

“The Shattuck Brothers are proud to support Music for Troops,” states Ricky Lee Shattuck.  “This worthwhile organization does a lot of good for the men and women who fight to keep us free.”

Ricky Lee Shattuck

Ricky Lee Shattuck has been performing his entire life.  "I first began singing at home," says Ricky Lee.  "Our whole family sang and Randy and I used to sing Elvis tunes where I'd be Elvis and he'd try to be the entire Stamps Quartet."

Ricky Lee has recorded on numerous projects in Nashville.  However, his vocal talent really shines through on this project.  "Vince Gill calls it blood harmonies and that's what Randy and I have."  Ricky Lee's tremendous vocal range shows through when he digs out bass notes on "It's Time" and soars on  faucetto lines on "I Get A Little Lost Sometimes."

"What I like most about this project is that my brother wrote all of the songs for me," says Ricky Lee.  "I have never had a writer consciously try to put things in my range and write to show off my abilities.  While I genuinely like most of the music I have recorded on other projects, this music really suits me - from touching ballads to up tempo rockin' tunes."

Ricky's musical influences are too numerous to mention, but most great singers make the list, including Elvis, Steve Perry, Roy Orbison, Ronny Dunn, and many others.

Randy Shattuck

Randy Shattuck is a seasoned composer, studio musician, and song-writer.  Randy produced The Shattuck Brother's self-titled debut album, wrote all 14 songs, and played numerous instruments on the project in addition to providing background vocals on all but one song.

Prior to this project, Randy produced three other instrumental guitar albums and played in several combos.  "I find myself most at home in Country music" says Randy.  "The first songs I remember hearing as a child were from Hank Williams Sr. who my dad really liked.  Johnny Cash was another staple in our house growing up.  Man In Black still gives me chills," says Randy.

"My influences are too diverse to mention in such a small space.  But a few players do stand out - Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Maphis, Steve Vai, Chet Atkins, Bryan Setzer, and Jimmy Bryant.  But I also love the sound of rich vocals and great stories like what you get with the Eagles."

"Ricky and I have been singing together our entire lives, since we were kids at our mother's knee listening to her play guitar and sing the songs she wrote.  So I guess you could say she is my biggest musical influence.  I would not be able to do what I do now had it not been for her."

Featured Artist: Deborah Allen

Deborah Allen was born with a gift of music coursing through her veins, cutting a path in her life as relentlessly as the Mississippi carves through Memphis, the place of her birth.

Before her music encouraged her to pack a bag and set out on her heart’s musical odyssey, Deborah can recall a southern childhood rich in love, color, and drama. The youngest of the three daughters of Rosetta and Leon Thurmond, their dark haired, hazel-eyed child, from the earliest age, seemed to draw from her family’s wellspring of talents and optimism.

With a suitcase full of local talent contest and performance credits from Memphis, Deborah headed for Nashville at the age of 18. While working as a waitress, a chance encounter with legend Roy Orbison gave Deborah the opportunity to share her dream of a career in music with him. He later hired her to sing background vocals on his upcoming session. The $90.00 she was paid might as well have been a million.

Her incredible voice, beauty, and always handy confidence quickly landed her a job at “Opryland”. As a regular cast member of the theme park’s “Showboat,” Deborah was invited to join Tennessee Ernie Ford as a part of a cast production he was taking on tour to The Soviet Union. It proved to be an invaluable experience. When safely back home in the States, her career momentum was now officially picking up speed. Veteran songwriting genius Shel Silverstein took Deborah under his wing, and considering the sea of pretty faces and new singers vying for their own star in the skies over 16th Avenue, he had one important piece of advice for her… “write songs”! His friendship, interest, and wisdom changed her life immediately and forever. While working on an Opryland TV special for Sandy Duncan, Deborah met singer/comedian Jim Stafford who after seeing Deborah perform, asked her to be a part of his cast on his new summer replacement TV series on ABC. This Deborah Allen opportunity meant a move to Los Angeles where she would spend the next two years working with Stafford on television, as well as performing on his concert dates as an opening act.

Feeling her music had deeper creative roots in her southern heritage, Deborah made her way back to Nashville. Once re-settled, there was no looking back. Her writing was flourishing by this time. RCA had become aware of her, and felt she was the right voice to overdub tracks recorded by the late country legend, Jim Reeves. The label was able to update their existing Jim Reeves tracks into brand new duets with Deborah Allen, which burst her onto the national charts, and into the music mainstream. “Don’t Let Me Cross Over”, “Oh How I Miss You Tonight”, and “Take Me In Your Arms And Hold Me”, all reached the top 10, proving the Jim Reeves career on record had not yet ended, and Deborah Allen’s was just about to begin.

Signed to Capitol Records, her first album release, “Trouble In Paradise”, received wide critical acclaim. At that crucial time in her still fledgling career, an executive shift at her label locked Deborah’s next session in the vault of corporate change. Included in that session was a song called, “Baby I Lied”, which Deborah had co-written. Impressed with both the singer and the song, RCA Records picked up Deborah’s session masters and immediately released “Baby I Lied”. In addition to becoming a major country hit, “Baby I Lied”, from her first RCA album titled, “Cheat The Night”, achieved huge success in the pop charts as well. This tremendous recognition in both fields garnered Deborah two Grammy nominations as a singer and songwriter.

While establishing herself as a major recording artist, Deborah’s incredible string of successes as a songwriter were fast establishing her as one of the hottest young writers in town. Her first recording project for Giant Records, “Delta Dreamland”, in 1993, included the hit singles, “Rock Me”, and “If You’re Not Gonna Love Me”, making a welcomed re-emergence of Deborah Allen on the charts. Her CD, “All That I Am”, on Giant Records further displayed the passionate intensity of her singing and the lyrical beauty of her songwriting. Here was the heart of Deborah Allen.

In the year 2000 the release of her CD on Curb Records “The Best of Deborah Allen” was yet another creatively fulfilling chapter of Deborah’s boundless career. During this time, her song “We Can Get There” performed by pop diva Mary Griffin on the hit soundtrack for the movie “Coyote Ugly” moved Deborah to multi-platinum status as a songwriter once again. A world class singer, songwriter, and producer Deborah’s creative skills are second to none. As the consummate performer, her genuine warmth and natural love of performing shines through her high energy, and in her more intimate moments as she wrings emotion into every note she sings.

Now in the new millennium, with her talents culminating in international performances with world-renowned symphonies, Deborah remains as current as tomorrow morning’s news. She has never stopped growing, never lost that first love feeling for the music that wells up naturally inside her. The result is quite simply the musical genius of a little girl from Memphis who had a dream…and the faith to make her dream come true.

CHRISTY CLAYTON BIO
If country music has a mold, Christy Clayton is doing her best to break it. The first signed artist from Las Vegas record label, Desert Funk Records, Christy is ready to carve her own niche in the country music landscape. Throw in some rock, some blues and a lot of attitude and you have desert, or red dirt country, a sound with no fences or limits. You also have an artist chomping at the bit to introduce the world to a new sound.
Christy’s intense interest in music took flight back in rural Michigan where she began to show talent at the tender age of 5. After years of studying vocals, musical instruments and trying her hand in local theater and even creative writing, it wasn’t long before Christy formed her own band. Performing a combination of her original music and covers, Christy sang for her supper along the Midwest, Southwest and Texas circuits, eventually making her way to Vegas.
Soon after arriving, Christy got involved in the city’s small yet prominent original music scene through the Las Vegas Chapter of “Chick Singer Night” at The Palms. Here she got to perform her own original songs on stage by herself. The experience renewed Christy’s love for performing live and fueled her desire to continue to create her own music.
The next year, Christy took a gig as a demo singer for Texas songwriter Greg Stricklin. Christy had no way of knowing at the time, but this man would give her an opportunity that would change her life forever. Greg was a industry veteran who made a name for himself in the 70’s and early 80’s on Austin’s famed 6th Street and later on the Sunset Strip.
Together, Greg and Christy formed a band and began recording her debut album, Devil’s Paradise. Greg wrote the music and collaborated with Christy on the lyrics. The result is a culmination of life experiences, some of them responsible for how both artists wound up splitting time between Las Vegas and Rio Frio, Texas. “I wanted this music to be real, not sugar-coated in any way. From the lyrics to the wide variety of instruments, even to my voice. We took the long way and didn’t enhance anything you’ll hear on the record.”

DROWNING POOL
Ryan McCombs: Lead vocals
C.J. Pierce: Guitars/vocals
Stevie Benton: Bass/vocals
Mike Luce: Drums/vocals

“You think it’s over/Well I’ve come too far/To back down now” “Full Circle”

For Drowning Pool, Full Circle, their third album, and first for Eleven Seven Music/ADA, represents a chance to start fresh, with a new lead singer in old friend Ryan McCombs, a new label and new management.

Marking one of the new album’s fateful coincidences is the fact the ex-SOiL vocalist made his live debut in Dallas with the band at Ozzfest in August, 2005, almost three years to the day since he joined Drowning Pool’s guitarist C.J. Pierce, bassist Stevie Benton and drummer Mike Luce on-stage in Indianapolis at Ozzfest 2002 to sing “Bodies” with the late Dave Williams, who would pass away from a rare heart disease just a day later, for his last performance.

“There’s never been a point when we thought about stopping,” says C.J., a New Orleans native who moved to Dallas in the mid-‘90s to form Drowning Pool with fellow Cajun Luce and Texas natives Benton and Williams when they were all still in high school. “Everything we’ve gone through has just brought us closer.”

“We wanted to keep playing with each other,” adds Mike, who knew Stevie from a brief stint in Dallas before he moved to New Orleans. “But we did wonder if it would still be Drowning Pool without Dave or whether we should keep the name in his memory.”

“We decided to keep the band going because if we didn’t it would put to rest everything we did with Dave,” says Stevie. “If someone in your family dies, you don’t change your name. You just keep going.”

And keep going they did. With McComb in tow, Drowning Pool road-tested the new material, which included powerful new songs like “Reborn,” paying tribute to Williams and the band’s legacy with lyrics penned by Ryan that reference past song titles and the promise, “This ain’t over/Till it’s over.” “Soldiers” is a nod to the very same Marines who’d listen to “Bodies” before flying missions over Iraq, while “No More” is a blood-curdling cry for mercy that was first heard on the soundtrack to Saw III. Songs like “Paralyzed” and “Shame” are filled with painful, yet cathartic, images of martyrdom, resurrection and rebirth.

“A lot of that has to do with having so many preachers in my family,” says McComb, a self-described Indiana hillbilly. “I was the type of kid who went to church every Sunday morning, youth group Sunday night and bible study every Tuesday and Thursday. I guess it comes out here and there.”

Produced by Ben Schigel [Chimaira, Walls of Jericho], with Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx and Beautiful Creatures’ DJ Ashba, Full Circle builds on the aggro hard-core approach of their platinum-plus 2001 debut, Sinner and its hit single, “Bodies.”

“These songs have been with us a long time, and they’re very personal,” says C.J. “We’ve played them on tour for almost two years before we went into the studio to record. They’re all road-tested, which is awesome.”

After a failed stint with lead vocalist Jason “Gong” Jones for the band’s second album, Desensitized, in 2004, Drowning Pool feel the addition of McCombs has made them whole again, a family. It was something the band’s fans had been clamoring for since Williams’ death.

“They knew this was going to happen before we had a clue,” says C.J. “We just didn’t have that family vibe with our old lead singer. And now we’ve got that again with Ryan. Maybe third time is the charm.”

Full Circle returns Drowning Pool to its prime, when “Bodies” was featured on several WWE pay-for-view events, EA Sports’ Arena Football game and used by Boston Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon and Houston Astros Brad Lidge to accompany their walk from the bullpen. With the chorus, “Let the bodies hit the floor,” the tribute to their stage-diving fans in the mosh pit was widely misunderstood. The song was banned by several radio stations in the wake of Sept. 11, but, in another example of things coming full circle, the group was invited to Baghdad by the USO on the fifth anniversary of that tragic day last year to play the song for a group of grateful, enthusiastic troops stationed there. They also played gigs in South Korea and Kuwait.

“They were probably the most rewarding shows we’ve every performed,” says Indiana native McCombs, who had completely walked away from music before the three remaining members of Drowning Pool, along with his wife, convinced him to join the band once and for all.

“She just told me, ‘This is the music you’ve been waiting to play your whole life,’” nods Ryan, whose youngest son Mitchell David is named after Williams. “When I first thought about singing for Drowning Pool, I felt I was stepping on toes. It was Dave’s own parents who put it into perspective for me. ‘If anybody was going to do this, don’t you think he’d want you to?’ That was enough for me.”

And now they’ve all come Full Circle.

“I think this record will surprise some people,” insists Mike. “We’re going to overturn the conventional wisdom that all Drowning Pool does is wrestling themes or videogame music. Not to say the record won’t have those kinds of songs, but we’re breaking the mold. We’re starting to heal and explore different horizons musically and lyrically.”

Isn’t this where we came in?

Bio

Bill Fountain is a member of the THP Band of north metro Atlanta. By the time Bill joined the band had already released their first album “Waves of Reason” . Working with the band and their unique style of music helped to foster the style of this first song released as a single. More songs are in the works by the THP Band and also by Bill as an separate EP due out early this summer.

Coming Home was written for my Son when he left his wife at home for service in Iraq. This song is meant to convey the feeling of separation from loved ones for all the brave individuals that leave home for extended periods. While writing Coming Home I was lucky enough to have the help and influence of the THP Band that made this song what it is today. The THP Band and I are like-minded individuals who want in some small way to show our support and appreciation for all those, in what ever capacity, that are in service to our country away from home.

Coming Home" The single is now available from "Hamming Dog Records" A donation will be made to our armed forces overseas with each purchase.

"The Indie Life For Me" - There is still an aura of innocence and pride in being in charge of ones own music career.  I.N. is rising above the pre-manufactured noise of pop culture through distinctive sound, and determined effort at expanding onto the international stage.  Innocent Noise has been reborn since the addition of front man Craig Harrison [8-04] after being instrumental for over a year.  I.N.'s "debut" self-titled EP was just the tip of the iceberg.  I.N.'s latest EP, Xotica, represents an elevation in sound for Innocent Noise being blessed to now record with producer/engineer Alan Sanderson of Strate Sound Studios in San Diego, CA...the band's home town.

With a mountain of new music in the live set; and having opened for Pepper and Long Beach Dub All Stars on the funkier side, and Chaimara [OzFest band] on the harder side, Innocent Noise can rock just about any house they are privileged to play.

The sound?  Driving funky rhythms, melodic structure and strong tribal beats. Combining eccentric licks, aggressive power chords and urgently poetic vocals, the band is influenced by several of the most epic artists of all time, and some obscuritites only core fans have ever heard of. The influences? Read
the bios.

Are we Innocent? Is it Noise?  We intend to rock the world until we get some answers!

In the meantime, YOU decide.

Featured Artist: Katherine Kaufman and Lou Perez

kklp

Katherine Kaufman and Lou Perez were close musical and songwriting partners who met in 1983. During their time together, they wrote dozens of songs and worked on various musical projects together. They devoted all of their time and money to these projects until, in 2000, for many reasons, including running out of money to continue, they decided to disband, indefinitely, although they never have considered themselves completely split up as writing partners. They prefer to think of it as an extended hiatus. The song, “Believe It’s Love” is sung by Lou. Another lyric writer, Victor Arencibia, also co-wrote the song. It was part of a production/band project called “Tempered Soul”, which was their most recent and most ambitious project to date. They still hope to complete it, someday.
Submitting it to Music For Troops was Katherine’s idea. She has been looking for opportunities to continue to advance the awareness of the songs they wrote together as well as ones she has written on her own. She is a member of NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International). Katherine and Lou have recently discussed the possibility of writing together, again.
Presently, Katherine lives the peaceful life with her 2 kitties in rural central Pennsylvania. Lou lives with his wife, Karen, and 3 children in Northeastern New Jersey.

Featured Artist: The Human Condition

thc

The Human Condition is an all original acoustic-fronted rock band from Saint Petersburg, Florida featuring the unique songwriting style of Dean Johanesen.
The music is the sound of the struggle, the strength, the madness and the beauty of being human. Rhythmic and acoustic and real. The band prides itselfon playing with emotion honesty and heart. Comparisons have been made to Jack Johnson and Ben Harper, David Gray and Dave Matthews. Their influences range from Led Zepplin to Radiohead, Lyle Lovett to Thelonious Monk, the Mars Volta to Fugazi and a lot of points in between.
The bands first EP is due out the beginning of March 2007. The group recorded LIVE to capture the songs in their truest form. With very little over dubs or re-takes the band feels confident in what they accomplished in the studio and look forward to sharing the music with their friends, fans and family.
Band members:
Dean Johanesen - Singer / Songwriter & Guitarist
Johanesen is originally from New York, has been writing and performing for many years. The most recent incarnation of Dean’s music is an Acoustic fronted Singer / Songwriter blend of rock which manyfriends refer to as “folkcore.”

The music is an edgier sort of acoustic music that reflects on what it is to be human. Some of the tunes fall into an Alt/country vein along the lines of maybe Lyle Lovett and some in the Singer Songwriter style that David Gray or Ben Harper may perform. There is also the use of alternate guitar tunings and some odd time tunes that stretch out the sound and hint at Radiohead here and there.

Scott Anderson - Electric Guitar & Lap Steel
Scott and Dean have been performing together for the last 11 years. Anderson plays electric guitar and lap steel in The Human Condition. Not the kind of lap steel playing you might think of. Andersons approach to playing is more about texture and melodic support in the songs. He is one of few guitar players that you may actually ask to turn up. He knows where he likes the sound to sit however and is focused on giving thesongs the character and support he hears that they need.

Mike Eng - Drums & Percussion
Mike is a former member and founder of a band called the Magic Bullet Theory that was based out of Tampa FL. Since joining The Human Condition, Eng has brought new life and flavor to the songs he has been performing with the band. He adds just the right mix of technical proficiency and raw energy to the songs with his playing and his focus. Mike is looking forward to becoming a full time musician, which is good because so are the guys in The Human Condition and they are looking forward to helping him out with that.

Mark Tinker - Bass
Mark currently performs in a Who tribute band called the Wholigans and lays down all the Entwhistle lines in that group, if that gives you an idea about his ability. He has a great ear and is really good about packingthe tunes with melodic lines and punchy rhythms. He also provides a bit of entertainment, as the guys usually like to rib him about being the last one to the gig.

Biography

A pop/rock artist influenced by Coldplay, the Beatles, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Lenny Kravitz or Radiohead. Some piano based ballads with guitar arrangements or some rockier songs, with vocal harmonies always.Ben first started as a musician in the early 90's in a band called No Name. No Name released a self-produced EP with 4 titles at the time and made several gigs. As they were about to release a single with a small label, they realised the producer was a crook. That was a fatal blow for the band which already had its own internal tensions with 6 members and 3 composers. Then, everyone followed different roads.Ben became a film student in UCLA, failed to graduate and came back home to do his military service. This would turn out to be a turning point in his life as he volunteered to serve in Bosnia when the war was still raging. He arrived there just after fighting stopped but that first stay changed everything for him in terms of human experience and perspectives. He went back to Bosnia as an international civil servant doing short terms missions. Then he did a second military tour as a reservist, during which he happened to work for a while under US Command. This led him to a permanent job as an international civil servant.Ben stayed in the Balkans about 6 years altogether before moving back to Paris as he wanted to give back priority to his music plans. There, he joined the French civil service for a short period, just enough to ask for an unpaid leave status from 2004. In the mean time, to make ends meet, he went back in the military reserve to do missions abroad in Kosovo (2004) and Afghanistan (2006), where he happened to cooperate with the US military on some reconstruction projects. Most recently, Ben made the jump and resigned from the civil service to continue spending his time writing and recording songs, with the goal to be signed.

BIOGRAPHY

Just when you think you've heard Christmas music in every form on the planet...think again.  The new release by Rufus Harris, Come and Listen: Songs of the Savior, has captured many of the holiday classics that you’ve come to know and love.  The creative spin that he lends to these Christmas songs is quite refreshing.  As it is with most Christmas music, it's usually obvious what you're about to hear.  However, these carefully crafted renditions have managed to maintain the magic of old, while new musical arrangement keeps you guessing as each song unfolds.  Unpredictability is what fans have come to expect with Rufus.  And he never lets them down.

Rufus took his music to new heights with his sophomore release - How Do You Read it?  Its unforgettable melodies, driving rhythms and candid lyrics create a visionary journey that captures an honest yet hopeful look at the state of the Western church.  The album challenges the listener with spiritually mature lyrics.  Songs like Believe, Not Black or White, No Compromise, and Love in What You Do deliver a non-conciliatory message designed to build up the church in a state of crisis while My Life, Left with Questions and the title cut How Do You Read It? address commitment and practical reasoning.

The creative melodies and heartfelt words on his freshman release entitled – rufus harris - have won over many music lovers.   Songs like Who Is Like Him? and 2Bpraised reveal the glory of God’s creation while Captain, We Long to Glorify, 1INeed and U-R illustrate the relationship one can have with the Father.  The album also addresses the resurrection of Jesus, true worship, and the Christian testimony.

Rufus’ three solo projects – Come and Listen, How Do You Read It? and rufus harris illustrate his creativity and varied musical influences.  Each possess a cradle of sound that reveals Rufus’ rock edge without neglecting his soulful style or his varied musical influences.  Rufus thrills listeners with an array of compositional styles set into a smooth contemporary pop format.

At any of Rufus’ performances, the listener will be drawn in by the powerful words every song exudes.   The message is presented with clarity that’s fresh and rooted in the Word.   Take a journey with Rufus and many others have.

Keyan Williams bio - Born and raised in Brooklyn New York and currently reside in Arizona. Keyan started playing the sax at age 8. By the age of 16 he was playing Jazz Sax and Classical Flute and had been involved with special school music programs such as Borough wide, District wide and Statewide bands.

Keyan has never been shy to crowds, playing at various places like Carnegie Hall, and Avery Fisher Hall at an early age. Many fans of his music have conveyed to him that his saxophone style reminds them of Grover Washington Jr., and he is very humbled over the compliments. Grover Washington Jr., musically influenced Keyan, along with many other luminous jazz artists like: Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Wes Montgomery and Stanley Clarke. Over his years playing, Keyan has also had the honor of sharing the stage with Herbie Hancock, Chic Corea, and Junior Cook.

He completed his Bachelors Degree in Music, and Business and when asked about what kept his heart in the music, he stated, “My love of God has kept me doing his will. I love being Our Father’s instrument. Meeting Jazz greats like Zoot Sims, Herbie Hancock and Chic Corea has also been a great influence for me”.

Keyan released his new CD titled "The Art of Living", August of 2006. The CD is a grooved filled production that is reminiscent of the kind of music Grover made. Keyan says, “Grover Washington Jr. is one of his favorite musicians. He was a great sax player and would give you a great show, three hours of non-stop playing. I wanted to keep that kind of drive alive – real strong grooves – to get back to what I call ‘the original smooth jazz sound.’ I think we have done that with this album. And, you will not hear me play a solo the same way twice. I play from my heart, no repetition

Biography

“Phil Ayoub has an MBA degree.  He also has some kind of ear for commercial pop-rock melodies and intelligent lyrics.  Ayoub’s first solo release, ‘Schoolbus Window Paper Heart,’ is filled with radio-friendly grooves and themes that range from the 9-11 nightmare to carefree romance….”
-The Sun Chronicle

Some people do things a little bit backwards.  After earning an MBA from Boston College and finding his way to a prosperous job at a large investment company, Phil Ayoub left it all behind to write songs.  After earning B’s in business school (well, B-minuses actually), Ayoub enrolled himself in the school of Bruce, Bono, and Bob…

While he was still working his day job, Phil made a local name for himself creating, fronting, and engineering the Boston band Riverside Train.  With Riverside Train, Ayoub (pronounced A-yoob) amassed a solid, loyal fan base, performing at some of the top music venues in Boston and New England.  The band also earned national recognition when Hall of Fame baseball journalist Peter Gammons wrote “If your tastes include The Black Crowes and/or Three Doors Down, get the debut disc of a great new band, Riverside Train.  Try their web site.  You will not be disappointed,” in his ESPN.com column.

After disbanding Riverside Train, Ayoub came across an online ad from a producer looking for new talent to work with.  The location was Providence, Rhode Island and that producer turned out to be Tim Bradshaw.  Bradshaw is the keyboard and guitar player for David Gray and has been with him since the 1990’s, including playing on Gray’s breakthrough record White Ladder and worldwide hit “Babylon.”  Bradshaw had recently relocated to Providence, liked Ayoub’s demos, and signed on to produce his solo record.

The result of this collaboration is Schoolbus Window Paper Heart, the debut disc from Phil Ayoub.  Americana pop-rock at its best, the disc consists of 12 brand new songs written or co-written by Ayoub.  The record also features the drumming of Ed Toth, formerly of Vertical Horizon (“Everything You Want,” “You’re A God”) and currently with the Doobie Brothers.  In addition to continuing to write, record, and perform in Gray’s band, Bradshaw, formerly of Dog’s Eye View (“Everything Falls Apart”), also appears on the most recent records by Liz Phair and Josh Ritter.

Inspired by Springsteen, U2, and Oasis, Phil has the energy of Bruce, the passion of Bono, and none of the attitude of Oasis' Gallagher brothers (well, not usually…).  Hear his brand of “grad-school rock” on the startling new disc Schoolbus Window Paper Heart and hear it live…

"Damn near as good as being in a club on Beale Street." Three albums into the game and the Reba Russell Band have scored every time. Restless is another collection so alluring and feisty, so rough and ready, it's no wonder Russell's considered among the best blues singers down there in Memphis, the city of the blues. And what a band! The core- Russell, her husband Wayne on bass, and keys-man Robert Nighthawk Tooms- are now complimented by the extraordinary guitarist Brad Webb and drummer Gary Adair, both new since the last record. Webb, side by side with Tooms, completes one hellacious tag team, perfectly accentuating Russell's every stormy phrase. The songs run the gamut. In "Dark New Sun," a classic twelve bars becomes a gale force. The sublime voices of the Masqueraders add heavenly gospel fire to "As Angels Do." "Restless" is a barrelhouse boogie spiked with delta wires. Stomping and foreboding best describes "Wished I Was Noah." There's nothing groundbreaking here; just hard, t
